I’m a writer and librarian from Coast Salish territories (west coast Canada), currently working and living in the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations (Vancouver). I’m a cis white bisexual woman who has an honours BA in English and German from the University of Victoria and an MA in English from Dalhousie University in Halifax. I also have half of a PhD in English (it’s a long story). I am especially partial to writing which is queer, feminist, Canadian and/or written by women–the writing that this site is all about! Topics and activities dear to my heart include cats, bisexuality, libraries, queer (Canadian) literature, running, and drinking tea.
You can look for quick updates, reviews, and sneak peeks at what I’m reading at my Twitter account, as well as on Goodreads and Facebook. Some of my reviews, particularly the non-Canadian variety, can be found at the Lesbrary blog.
I have an LGBTQ2IA+ book advice column, Ask Your Friendly Neighbourhood Lesbrarian, which runs on Autostraddle. If you need help finding your next favourite LGBTQ2IA+ books, send me an email (stepaniukcasey [at] gmail.com) or tweet. Then, I’ll write you up a whole post with suggestions! I’ve helped people find lesbian and bisexual dystopian YA, fat-positive queer books, novels with asexual characters, YA about trans characters that doesn’t focus on transition, books that are similar to Mariko Tamaki’s, and lots more!
